"Pastoral Glimses" - Melody Potpourri from 1990

Well, this one is made entirely for fun...
I collected some of my melodies from long ago (most from 1990-1991, a couple from 1985) and "stitched" them in the following two-part sequence. Most are played on a little Yamaha PSS-680 keyboard (see below) that I had in Germany in 1990. It was rather like a toy, very entry-level in its capabilities, but was actually fun to play, to see what it could do without any programming (only with preset styles). You will also hear such exotic intruments as "drawing a rubber string" across the piano lid, plucking grand piano's strings with metal paperclips, etc :). Needless to say they are all improvisations, kind of like a light-hearted melody potpourri, celebrating the goodness of country living.

1. Patched Blue Jeans (1995)

- also based on some long-forgotten Russian folk tune
4. "Dubinoushka" (arr. 1985)
- old russian work song (kind of like the American "Yo-ho-ho, and the bottle of rum")
5. Gathering Mushrooms (1985)
- kind of slowed-down country rag.

"The Panorama Suite" - 7 Piano Pieces from 1997.

These instrumental pieces were composed as a continuous improvisation and recorded live one morning in 1997 (after spending a week in Panorama Resort in British Columbia).
My future wife and I were just falling in love with each other... so it is dedicated to Rachel (part 6, especially).
I am not sure if I ever have time or ability to make the proper arrangements for these pieces - so they are performed on the piano only (with an occasional preliminary vocal track).

New piano improvisation tracks - Sept 1, 2006

Piano improvisations recorded this week.
First one is a rough draft of a composition I am really hoping to record properly one day.
The second is an unusual folk / dance medley of 2 slow melodies and 1 fast (composed on the spot).

1. HOW LONG THE ROAD - Click Here for MP3 - 3 MB

2. THREE DANCES - Click Here for MP3 - 2.8 MB
Consists of three parts.

These compositions are presented with only a few edits (deleted blank spaces). So there could be a few rough notes...
Lyrics for "How Long the Road" are in the works.
